Weed & Instrumentals

Curren$y and the Jet Life crew douse your favorite beats in THC-soaked raps.

Curren$y must have an allergy to hype, or maybe he just likes to test how many of his fans are real ones. Either way, he dropped another mixtape today without any warning, Weed & Instrumentals. Two of the tracks – “G.A.S.” & “In My City” – appeared as loosies previously. This one is in collaboration with his Jet Life family, including Corner Boy P, T.Y. and Le$. A few other emcees get guests spots as well.

Taking it back to when mixtapes predominantly didn’t use original beats, Curren$y and his crew explain the tape as “just me and the homies rapping over some of the hottest mainstream instrumentals out now and some classic instrumentals as well.” This isn’t just the hottest radio stuff either, he digs back for classic cuts like “Still Tippin’,” among others. It makes for an eclectic tape.

Curren$y has been putting work in lately. He released The Carrollton Heist in February and The Owner’s Manual in January, so Weed & Instrumentals keeps his streak of one tape per month alive.
